Making My (Book) Mark.
My grandma used to say the older you get, the faster time goes — so you might as well walk slow.
As things pick up for me in the book world, I’m encouraging myself to remember that mantra. While I have my manuscript out in agent inboxes, my focus has been growing my online platform.
Being an author is a business, and the best way to reach future readers is to build a community that engages with and recognizes me. Over the last month, I’ve crossed the threshold of 1,000 followers (which has since grown to 1,300 over the past few days!)
As I continue to extend my reach in the writing community, over the next few months, I could use YOUR help sharing this newsletter!
Social media presence is important, but a subscriber list (i.e. you!) is what will help me stand out among other writers seeking the same agents.

Manuscript Milestones.
Last month, I mentioned my goal to write 10K words a week in hopes to finish a new book by midsummer because 4 agents have expressed interested in the project.
I’m excited to say I’ve reached 40,000 words (just under half-way!)

A Book I’m Loving.
A coworker of mine recommended Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelley Van Pelt, and my goodness, this book is beautiful.
In this modern-day mystery, Tova, an elderly widow working the night shift at a local aquarium, joins forces with a remarkably bright and undeniably witty octopus named Marcellus to uncover the truth behind her son’s disappearance
Although I always recommend reading the book, the movie is wondrous as well.
